Bengaluru Re-Tenders Six Flyover Projects at Rs. 16.4 bn

Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure (B-Smile), a special purpose vehicle, has re-invited civil bids for six elevated corridor and flyover projects at a combined revised cost of Rs. 16.4 bn, excluding goods and services tax. The revised outlay is Rs. 160 mn higher than the previous tender baseline issued in May 2026.

The re-tendering follows the Urban Development Department’s cancellation of nine elevated corridor packages valued at Rs. 30.6 bn earlier this month. An audit panel had identified procurement irregularities, including inappropriate qualification criteria for urban works and non-compliance with national highway standards.

The six packages include the Shoolay Circle–St John’s Hospital Road corridor, valued at Rs. 5.64 bn, and the Minerva Circle–Town Hall Loop–KR Circle corridor, estimated at Rs. 5.4 bn. The Pipeline Road grade separators in Mahalakshmi Layout are priced at Rs. 3.15 bn, while the Doddaballapura Road–Kogilu Circle corridor is valued at Rs. 1.03 bn.

The remaining projects are the Konanakunte Cross elevated corridor on Kanakapura Road, with an estimated cost of Rs. 768 mn, and the MEI Junction split flyover on Tumakuru Road, priced at Rs. 416 mn. All six projects carry a construction period of 30 months and a maintenance obligation lasting 10 years.

Several major corridors remain pending, including the Old Madras Road–Silk Board Junction elevated corridor, which was previously valued at Rs. 8.52 bn and has not been re-tendered. Civic advocacy groups, including Dear DK, continue to oppose the high-capital elevated corridor network and are urging the state authorities to prioritise mass transit alternatives such as airport metro connectivity.
