Authorities emphasised that the city administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards unlawful construction and encroachments on public land. The demolition followed coordinated inspections by revenue department teams and joint operations involving the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority and other agencies. Enforcement efforts have focused on structures that impede road works and compromise safety and connectivity.

The anti-encroachment drive accelerated after the June one Malviya Nagar fire tragedy, with authorities reporting that since June one they have demolished 94 illegally constructed buildings and sealed 114 others for violations of building byelaws and fire safety norms. Officials added that 63 buildings have been demolished since that date and that the largest single day action razed 22 structures. They also reported about 97 buildings sealed during the period, including 79 properties sealed on June seven.

Revenue department teams inspected 124 sites across 13 districts and directed action wherever significant deviations from approved plans were detected. The DDA has ordered officials to identify buildings with major deviations and initiate strict action, with architects responsible for serious violations facing possible blacklisting. Flying Squads and Quick Response Teams have been asked to intensify enforcement in development and land pooling areas while the government works to establish long term mechanisms to prevent similar illegal activity.

Uttar Pradesh Accelerates National Highway Projects

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to review National Highway and road infrastructure projects. Mankhurd Maharashtra Nagar Flyover To Open By August 2027

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has said the Mankhurd-Maharashtra Nagar flyover will be operational by August 2027, as part of measures to ease congestion in the eastern suburbs.
