Kedarnath Ropeway to Cut Travel Time to 36 Minutes

A 12.9 km ropeway being built by the Adani Group is set to transform travel to the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand. The new link between Sonprayag and Kedarnath will reduce the arduous 8–9-hour journey to just 36 minutes, offering a faster and safer option for devotees.
Designed using advanced 3-S Tricable technology, the ropeway is considered among the safest and most modern systems globally. Each gondola will accommodate 35 passengers, with a total capacity to transport 1,800 pilgrims per hour. The project is expected to significantly boost tourism and support the local economy.
The Kedarnath shrine has recorded strong pilgrim turnout in recent years, with over 19 lakh visitors in 2023 and more than 17 lakh already this year. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee plans further measures to improve the overall pilgrimage experience.
The upcoming ropeway is poised to make the journey to the Himalayan shrine more efficient and accessible for devotees.
