Pasang Dorjee Sona, Minister of Tourism, reviewed the progress of road construction between Kaying and Mechuka at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Chief Engineer of Project Brahmank in Pasighat. The session was convened to assess the current status, ongoing challenges and timelines for the strategically important border road in Shi-Yomi district. The minister emphasised the need to accelerate the pace of work while maintaining high standards of quality in construction. He underlined that reliable road connectivity is vital for improving access, strengthening border infrastructure and unlocking greater socio-economic opportunities for people in the region. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the executing agencies and urged all stakeholders to maintain close coordination to secure timely completion of the project. Officials were instructed to prioritise quality assurance, safety measures and environmental safeguards during execution. The meeting was attended by Pankaj Goyal, Chief Engineer of Project Brahmank; Rajendra Kumar, Superintending Engineer; and S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Executive Engineer. Participants reviewed technical and logistical matters related to terrain stabilisation, seasonal weather windows and supply chain arrangements for construction materials and equipment. They discussed enhanced monitoring arrangements, phased mobilisation of machinery and workforce and the scheduling of periodic site inspections. Emphasis was placed on engaging local communities and contractors to support access works and to mitigate social and ecological impacts. The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen frontier connectivity and to improve logistical resilience for defence and civil needs. Improved road links will facilitate movement of goods and services, enhance emergency response and open new prospects for local commerce and tourism. Officials committed to follow up meetings and tighter coordination between state authorities and the General Reserve Engineer Force for sustained progress.
