MMRDA grants two-month extension

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has granted a two-month extension on Rs.14,000 crore road projects after a legal challenge from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in the Bombay High Court. The extension has been provided to contractors who faced delays in executing the road projects due to legal issues raised by L&T, one of India’s largest infrastructure companies. The legal dispute centered around contractual disagreements, impacting the timeline of several critical road developments in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The MMRDA, responsible for overseeing key infrastructure projects in the region, approved this extension in an effort to ensure the smooth completion of the projects, which are vital for improving connectivity in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. The projects in question include major road constructions aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing transportation efficiency.

The legal hurdles have created delays, but the two-month extension is expected to provide contractors the necessary time to catch up on the stalled work.
