Nalgonda X Roads Flyover To Open In August

The Nalgonda X Roads flyover in Hyderabad is due to be inaugurated in August and will improve connectivity. The corridor is two point eight km and is a four-lane elevated structure that will provide a signal-free route between Nalgonda X Roads and Owaisi Hospital Junction. It begins at Chanchalguda and ends near Yadagiri Theatre in Santosh Nagar and includes an up-ramp at Saidabad and a down-ramp at IS Sadan. The project is intended to ease congestion on a busy arterial stretch.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, with Chief Engineer Ratnakar and senior officials, inspected the project to review progress and assess remaining civil and finishing works. He directed executing agencies to complete pending tasks by the first week of August so the flyover can be inaugurated and opened to traffic as scheduled. The visit stressed adherence to timelines, safety standards and minimising disruption during finishing operations.

At present, commuters travelling between Chanchalguda Printing Press and IS Sadan spend around 30 minutes negotiating congestion during peak periods. Once operational, the journey is expected to take just eight to 10 minutes, which should materially improve daily commuting for residents and workers. The elevated corridor is also expected to benefit public transport schedules and emergency response times by reducing delays along the route.

Authorities have urged agencies to expedite remaining works and to coordinate with traffic management teams ahead of the opening to ensure a safe transition to the new route. The planned inauguration in August is being treated as a milestone in local infrastructure delivery and will be followed by monitoring of traffic patterns to gauge operational benefits. Residents and commuters will watch the outcome as authorities finalise signage, lighting and finishing touches before opening lanes to traffic.
