NHAI bars AECOM for three months
AECOM has been reportedly barred from participating in any National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) or Transport Ministry bids for three months. A penalty of Rs 2 million has additionally been levied on AECOM after an NHAI investigation found dereliction of AECOM Asia’s obligation as a consultant supervising the construction of the Rs 100 billion eight-lane Dwarka Expressway.
The proposed expressway runs from Delhi-Haryana Border to the start of rail-over-bridge, in Gurugram, Haryana. During construction, two concrete spans among pillars 107-109 in the third phase of the under-construction Dwarka Expressway collapsed in March 2021. Larsen and Toubro had been the contractor for this section of the projects; NHAI levied a penalty of Rs 66.7 million on them.
