There is no clearer sign that India’s metro-rail revolution is no longer a big-city story than having a metro in 23 cities. From being one-off projects in Kolkata and Delhi, metro rails have evolved into a national urban transformation project aiming at reshaping mobility, land use and sustainability in every city with an operational metro.

However, this project has neither seen uniform success across cities, nor success in every city.

NBCC Wins Rs 550m IOB Office Project In Raipur

State-owned construction major NBCC India Ltd has secured a new domestic work order worth around Rs 550.2 million from Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) in the normal course of business, according to a regulatory filing. The project involves planning, designing, execution and handover of IOB’s new Regional Office building at Raipur. The contract has been awarded under NBCC’s project management consultancy (PMC) operations and excludes GST. NBCC said the order further strengthens its construction and infrastructure portfolio. Krystal Wins Rs 2.75bn Vasai–Virar Waste Deals

Krystal Integrated Services Ltd has secured three major municipal solid waste management contracts from the Vasai–Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) valued at around Rs 2.75 billion. The contracts will run for five years, along with a three-month preparatory phase. The mandates cover end-to-end sanitation services in compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. Krystal will undertake door-to-door waste collection, segregation and transportation, street sweeping and cleaning of public areas across residential, commercial, institutional and notified zones in the three wards. ..

Salasar Techno Engineering has secured a Rs 686.7 million Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) project from Power Grid Corporation of India for the Puducherry Electricity Department (PED). Awarded in December 2025, the contract covers design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 110/22 kV GIS substation at Lawspet, Puducherry.
