Omar Abdullah Launches Rs 423.8 mn Projects in Ganderbal

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects across Ganderbal district, totalling Rs 423.8 million (mn). The initiatives aim to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, road connectivity, public amenities, youth facilities, heritage conservation and tourism development. The tour began at Beehama, where he laid the foundation stone for a Library and Reading Room to be established by the Culture Department at an estimated cost of Rs 48.3 million.

He also launched key infrastructure works, including the upgradation of inner links at Ahan Zazna, Waskura and Khojbagh Kondbal, link roads from Gutlibagh to Baba Wayil under NABARD-RIDF and construction of Sindh Riverfront Phase one, along with widening of the road connecting Dursuma Market and Checkpora Arhama, at a cumulative cost of Rs 153.6 million. The new Divisional Office of Sindh Forest Division at Beehama was e-inaugurated and constructed at a cost of Rs 11.1 million. In the cultural heritage sector, he laid the foundation for the restoration and development of Masjid Hamam at Rs 50.1 mn.

At District Hospital Ganderbal, he inaugurated Bone Dexa Scan and Fibro Scan machines procured under corporate social responsibility from HDFC Bank at a cost of Rs 11.6 mn, which are expected to enhance diagnostic capacity and early treatment. He laid the foundation stone for a youth hostel at the Government College of Physical Education to be built by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 152.6 mn. He inspected an exhibition of modern sports science and training equipment and commended the administration for promoting scientific approaches in sports education.

He reviewed the long-pending Guzhama Bridge project, was informed that the technical evaluation is complete and the design is underway, and directed departments to ensure timely execution within the approved cost and stipulated timeframe so the bridge can be dedicated to the public at the earliest. A large gathering of local residents expressed gratitude for renewed attention to the stalled project after more than a decade. He was accompanied by senior ministers and officials during the tour.
