Patna Ring Road Corridor Targeted for 2028 Completion

The Bihar Road Construction Department has set 2028 as the completion target for the 14.5-km Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah six-lane corridor, being developed as part of the Patna Ring Road network. The project has an estimated cost of Rs. 11.83 bn and is intended to strengthen connectivity around the city.

Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal reviewed the project’s progress on Tuesday and instructed officials to keep construction on schedule. Engineers involved in the work discussed construction-related issues and measures needed to advance the corridor within the stipulated timeline.

The section is being developed under NH-131G through the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. It is designed to provide an alternative route for traffic moving through Patna and reduce dependence on roads passing through more congested parts of the city.

The review also covered several other major road projects in Bihar. These included the Chausa-Buxar bypass, the Daudnagar bypass in Aurangabad, the four-lane road from Bhagalpur to Dhaka Mor and the Arwal bypass on NH-139. Officials further examined the proposed four-lane road connecting the Bihar-Jharkhand border with Bhaljore in Banka.

The department discussed approval-related matters and progress updates for the Bettiah bypass on NH-727, along with the Madhepura and Singheshwar bypass projects on NH-131. Special Secretary Dr Shailaja Sharma and other project engineers attended the meeting. The department directed teams to accelerate construction and complete the schemes within their approved schedules, with the Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah corridor forming a key part of Patna’s peripheral road network.
