PM Modi Rs 18.8 bn Package Includes Two Greenfield Highways

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated two four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway stretches and the Tadipatri bypass and laid the foundation stone for a two-lane high-level bridge at Lingasamudram. The National Highway projects have a combined worth of over Rs 18.8 billion (bn). The initiatives are aimed at easing congestion, enhancing road safety, reducing travel time and distance, and boosting regional connectivity. Authorities said the schemes will also support regional trade and business opportunities.

He dedicated the 27-km Recherla Village–Guruvaygudem Village and the 29-km Guruvaygudem Village–Devarapalle Village stretches on the Khamman–Devarapalle section of NH-365G. The National Highways Authority of India stated these two greenfield stretches would reduce the Visakhapatnam–Hyderabad travel distance by 56 km and cut journey time by up to three hours. The authority added that the corridors will aid bypass movement around Vijayawada and lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Mr Modi also dedicated the six-km four-lane Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67, which is intended to divert through traffic away from Tadipatri town and reduce local congestion. The bypass will enhance connectivity to Krishnapatnam Port and allow faster movement of goods and passengers, supporting trade, economic growth and investment. Officials said the scheme is expected to improve road safety, reduce vehicle operating costs and make travel more sustainable.

He laid the foundation stone for the two-lane high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on the Penchalakona–Yerpadu section of NH-565 to provide year-round connectivity. NHAI indicated the bridge will improve access to healthcare, emergency services and education for about 0.12 million (mn) residents and strengthen links to Tirupati, Penchalakona and Srikalahasti. Overall, the projects are intended to ease congestion in Vijayawada, shorten travel between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad and improve regional connectivity.
