PMC Floats Rs 164 Crore Tender For Chandni Chowk Bhugaon Road

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has floated a Rs 164 crore tender for the Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon road project in Pune, valued at Rs 1.64 billion (Rs 1,640 mn). The project is designed to link the National Defence Academy (NDA) area at Chandni Chowk with Bhugaon and the civic body has secured nearly 80 per cent of the land required, clearing a key hurdle for construction. The tender details were released on the civic portal.

The scheme will upgrade a two point two kilometre stretch between Chandni Chowk and Bhugaon and will include a 60 metre-wide flyover and a 70 metre-long bridge over the Ram River. Project scope includes a 430 metre underpass near the PVPIIT College junction and service roads on both sides of the flyover to ease local traffic. The civic authority has not provided an exact completion timeline and procurement and preconstruction surveys will follow.

The upgraded corridor is intended to strengthen connectivity between Pune and its western approaches and to serve traffic moving from Mulshi towards the Konkan region. It will also link the Pirangut industrial belt with Bhugaon, Bhukum and adjacent villages, and will support higher traffic volumes as development expands across surrounding areas. The alignment has been planned to accommodate both local commuters and freight movements to and from industrial clusters.

Biltrax Construction Data is tracking more than 65,000 projects on its technology platform and lists the Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon corridor among monitored schemes. The tender value and the advance in land acquisition should help attract bidders for the construction contract and advance project delivery once a contractor is appointed. The civic authority will manage coordination with local stakeholders and begin detailed design and utility relocation work ahead of main construction.
