Raichur-Belagavi Highway Work to Be Expedited

Raichur MP G Kumar Naik urged the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite work on prominent highway projects in Karnataka, including the Raichur-Belagavi National Highway. He raised the issue during a meeting with NHAI officials at the authority’s headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Naik discussed the progress and quality of various projects with NHAI Executive Director Anil Chowdhary and Ajay Gupta, the General Manager overseeing projects in Karnataka. The meeting focused on the status of work and steps needed to advance the projects.

For Package 7 of the Raichur-Belagavi highway project, NHAI officials informed Naik that preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) would begin in November. The DPR will be based on the alignment that has been finalised for the project.

Naik also reviewed the position of Packages 5 and 6. He noted that the district administration had largely resolved the land acquisition issues affecting the two packages, and said construction activity should now be accelerated.

The MP additionally stressed the need to maintain construction standards while speeding up implementation. He said quality should not be compromised as work on the highway packages progresses. The projects were discussed in the context of improving connectivity and supporting development in the region.

The Raichur-Belagavi highway is among the major road projects in Karnataka whose progress was raised during the meeting. The next stated step for Package 7 is the preparation of its DPR, while Packages 5 and 6 are expected to move forward following progress on land acquisition matters.
