Satoi Range Bodies Seek Tax Exemption for Road Projects

Organisations representing the Satoi Range in Zünheboto district have appealed to all Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) to grant complete exemption from taxation on the Zhekiye-Satoi Road construction project and other development works in the area.

The appeal was made jointly by the Satoi Range GBs’ Association, Satoi Range Students’ Union, Satoi Range Sumi Totimi Loka and other stakeholders. In a press statement, the groups said the remote eastern part of the district remained at a critical stage of development after years of difficult access and inadequate infrastructure.

The organisations said the start of the long-awaited road project, along with other development initiatives, had raised hopes among residents. They stated that the successful implementation of the works depended on the effective use of the funds sanctioned for them and warned that any deductions from the limited resources could affect the pace, quality and scope of development.

The stakeholders also urged all concerned parties to keep the road project and other ongoing works free from interference. They called for the projects to proceed peacefully, continuously and without disruption, while assigning responsibility to the contractor, executing agencies and government departments to follow approved designs, specifications, quality standards and contractual obligations.

The groups said they would continue to monitor the progress and quality of the projects and represent the interests of people in the Satoi Range. They further called on the Government of Nagaland, the district administration and law enforcement authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment for the uninterrupted execution of the road and other development projects.
