Ministry highlights unique features of HMRL

The union urban development ministry has circulated to all metro rail projects in the country the unique features of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL) that enabled the latter to become the “Best Global Engineering Project of the Year 2013”. Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum selected HMRL from among the world’s top 100 infrastructure projects at its sixth annual conference held in New York recently. Union urban development Secretary Sudhir Krishna wrote a letter of congratulations to NVS Reddy, Managing Director of HMRL on this occasion. The urban ministry advised the implementing authorities of all other metro rail projects in the country to emulate the best practices and innovative features of HMR. Various ministries of the central government and state governments are reportedly requesting HMRL to give tips to their senior officers on building infrastructure projects in public-private partnership (PPP) mode and on the engineering and financial design innovation of the project. It is a recognition of the dedicated efforts shown by you and your team and I compliment you heartily for this recognition, Krishna said in his letter. The ministry of railways has also congratulated Reddy on the international recognition.
