Railways propose elevated corridor plan for Mumbai

The railways proposed a plan to build two elevated rail corridors along the Churchgate-Virar and CST-Panvel routes. The plan involves an elevated corridor between Oval Maidan and Virar covering a distance of 63 km and another corridor between CST and Panvel, which will be a 49 km long. The first corridor will have a 16 km underground route and the rest of the route will be elevated. The 31 km of the CST-Panvel corridor will be elevated and the rest will be along the current tracks of the harbour line.
