Afcons Secures Major Railway Project in Europe

Afcons Infrastructure (Afcons) has been selected as the most suitable bidder for the rehabilitation and construction of a railway line in Europe, a contract the company describes as its largest international order to date. The project is valued at 677.07 million euros, excluding taxes, and is reported in the release as approximately Rs 75,440 million. The award underlines Afcons' long term commitment to delivering world class infrastructure across geographies.

The scope covers reconstruction of the existing track and construction of a second track, together with overhead electrification, signalling and telecommunication works. Afcons said the contract follows its strategic drive to undertake large scale, technically complex projects internationally. Company executives described the win as a significant step on the group's global journey and linked it to national initiatives promoting manufacturing for global markets.

Afcons is the flagship infrastructure engineering and construction company of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and has a legacy of over six decades with a strong track record in executing technologically complex engineering, procurement and construction projects within India and overseas. The company cited the latest Engineering News Record survey in which it is ranked among the Top 140 international contractors globally and is placed twelfth in bridges and eighth in marine and ports categories. The firm said the project will contribute to the modernisation of a European railway network and strengthen its position as a trusted partner in international infrastructure development.
