Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express Flagged Off From Khati Pura

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday flagged off the Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express from Khati Pura Railway Station in Jaipur, inaugurating a direct rail link between Jaipur and Darbhanga. The launch was presented as the fulfilment of a long-pending demand of passengers, particularly those from Bihar. Officials described the move as aimed at strengthening connectivity and offering a new travel option for long-distance commuters.

The chief minister characterised the event as historic and conveyed congratulations to national leaders while noting that Khati Pura is an old station whose terminal had been upgraded. He indicated that the new terminal would serve as an important stop for trains arriving from that direction and that the direct service answered requests made by people in Bihar. The announcement was framed as a significant development for Jaipur and Rajasthan.

The railway minister outlined efforts to expand railway capacity in Jaipur to match the city's rapid growth and described the construction of a mega terminal at Khati Pura. He identified three priorities for capacity enhancement: increasing the number of platforms, enhancing train maintenance facilities and building mega terminals around the city. Arrangements were reported to be in place to maintain 450 trains every month. He also inspected the mega coaching terminal and related development works in Jaipur.

Authorities said the upgraded terminal will support operational needs and help manage higher traffic volumes as Jaipur expands. The service is expected to provide passengers with a more direct, time-saving connection between Rajasthan and Bihar and to relieve pressure on other city stations. Officials indicated that the development forms part of broader plans to modernise rail infrastructure and improve long-distance travel for residents and visitors.
