First metro link between Mandalay and Andheri set to cut commuter travel time

Mumbai’s Metro Line 2B is set to become the city’s first metro corridor connecting the eastern and western suburbs. The line will link Mandalay in the east with Andheri in the west, significantly reducing travel time for thousands of commuters.
The first phase, stretching from Mandalay to Diamond Garden in Chembur, features five stations—Mandalay, Mankhurd, BSNL Metro, Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, and Diamond Garden. Test runs are underway, and authorities expect inauguration by October 30–31, 2025.
Once fully operational, Metro 2B will cover 20 elevated stations, enhancing connectivity across key residential and business hubs. The line will seamlessly integrate with Metro 2A, Metro 3, and other upcoming corridors, including Metro 4 and the Chembur Monorail, improving access to South Mumbai and the Navi Mumbai Airport Fast Corridor.
The corridor is expected to ease congestion on suburban roads, provide faster travel options, and transform commuting for Mumbai residents.
