Modernising 1,300 stations via Amrit Bharat Scheme

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Railway Minister mentioned that 1,300 railway stations, among them Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, were in the process of being redeveloped and modernized under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme'. He informed the reporters that he had been discussing the progress of the construction work at the Gwalior station.

He conveyed, "A comprehensive total of 1,300 railway stations are undergoing redevelopment and modernisation, and within this initiative, an investment of Rs 5 billion is being directed towards the Gwalior station. The ongoing efforts to convert the narrow gauge line into a broad gauge are advancing rapidly," the Railway Minister stated.

As per him, the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) would conduct an evaluation of the progress on the broad gauging work between Gwalior and Sumavali in the near future.

He explained that the work carried out at the Gwalior station had been undertaken with great consideration for the site's significant historical background.

He commented, "Two additional platforms will be appended to the railway station. The station will be developed with splendid designs and contemporary conveniences," Vaishnaw expressed.

He assured that the aspect of conserving the historical significance would be diligently addressed during the gauge conversion efforts.

"The historical value associated with old railway stations will be conserved throughout the process of redevelopment and modernisation," the minister appended.
