Byculla Cable-Stayed Bridge 72% Complete; Deadline May 2026

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that construction of the Byculla cable-stayed east–west connector is 72 per cent complete. The project, designed to improve traffic flow between the city’s eastern and western corridors, has its completion deadline extended to May 2026.

The 800-metre bridge, featuring a central cable-stayed span, will provide seamless connectivity from Nana Chowk to JJ Flyover, significantly reducing travel time. Officials stated that civil and structural works are progressing steadily, with the remaining tasks involving deck slab casting and finishing works.

Once completed, the Byculla connector is expected to decongest key junctions and enhance intra-city mobility, supporting Mumbai’s broader infrastructure modernisation plans.
