PITCMRL welcomes 100% 'Made in India' train for Pune Metro Line 3

PITCMRL celebrates the arrival of the inaugural train for Pune Metro Line 3, proudly labelled as a 100% 'Made in India' achievement. The introduction of this train marks a significant milestone in Pune's urban transport landscape, managed by Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd (PITCMRL) in collaboration with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Crafted at Alstom's Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh, these state-of-the-art trains, part of a contract for 22 train sets, will revolutionise travel along the 23km Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar corridor, operating on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Each train, with a capacity to accommodate 1,000 passengers, promises enhanced urban mobility for Pune residents. Spearheaded by Tata Group and PMRDA, the project aims to elevate Pune's metro system to international standards, with a focus on safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability. Featuring cutting-edge technology such as a third rail traction system and regenerative braking, these trains can achieve speeds of up to 85kmph, ensuring a smooth and eco-friendly commute. Neha Pandit, Director and Business Head, Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, emphasises the project's commitment to passenger comfort and convenience. With vibrant designs, spacious interiors, and advanced passenger information systems, the trains are tailored to provide an exceptional travel experience. As work progresses steadily, Rahul Mahiwal, PMRDA Commissioner assures that the project remains on schedule, with plans to dispatch the remaining trains over the next 6-8 months.
