RailTel Wins Rs 0.12 Billion Tripura School Internet Order

RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a Mini Ratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a work order worth Rs 0.12 billion from the Government of Tripura, the company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday.

The contract has been awarded by the Director of IT, Government of Tripura, for the supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of internet connectivity in government schools across the state. The project is domestic in nature and is scheduled for completion by 15 July 2026. RailTel received the work order on 16 January 2026.

The company clarified that the order does not involve any related party transaction and that neither the promoter nor the promoter group has any interest in the awarding authority.

The project aligns with national initiatives such as Digital India and BharatNet, aimed at bridging the digital divide and strengthening digital infrastructure. By extending reliable internet connectivity to government schools, RailTel is expected to play a key role in improving access to digital education in Tripura.

With its pan-India telecom network laid along railway tracks, RailTel is well placed to execute connectivity projects in remote and rural regions, supporting the government’s broader objective of building a digitally empowered society.
