Railway's bag nine awards for energy conservation

South Central Railways took home the top two honours in the category for railroad stations, while Indian Railways received nine national energy conservation awards for the year 2022 overall. At a ceremony on Wednesday hosted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the auspices of the Ministry of Power, President Droupadi Murmu gave these awards for the finest energy management methods.

According to a statement from the Ministry on Thursday, the first prize for energy saving measures in railway stations went to Kacheguda station in Telangana, and the second place went to Guntakal railway station in Andhra Pradesh.

The Kanpur Central Railway Station (NCR), Rajahmudry Railway Station (SCR), and Tenali Railway Station (SCR) received certificates of merit in this category.

The North Western Railway's Ajmer Workshop won first place in the buildings category. Railway Hospital Guntakal (SCR), Electric Traction Training Center, Vijayawada (SCR), and Divisional Railway Hospital, Pratapnagar all received certificates of merit (WR).

The statement read: "Over the years, railroads have regularly implemented different energy-saving measures, such as energy-efficient LED lighting and other measures.
