Railways Approve Rs 7.64 Billion Ferozepur–Patti Line

Days after approving the Rajpura–Mohali railway link, the Railway Ministry has cleared another major project — the 25.72 km Ferozepur–Patti rail line.

A total outlay of Rs 7.64 billion, including Rs 1.65 billion for land acquisition, has been sanctioned for the project. Officials said the Punjab Chief Secretary has been notified and asked to begin the acquisition process. Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu announced the decision on Wednesday.

Sources said that apart from its strategic relevance, the new rail corridor will offer a direct connection between Ferozepur and Amritsar, reducing the distance between the two cities by 98 km. The line is also expected to link the border district directly to ports in Gujarat, significantly strengthening regional trade.
