RVNL Completes Sitafalmandi Lallaguda Rail Link in Hyderabad

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has completed the 2.2-km Sitafalmandi–Lallaguda Chord Line Project in Hyderabad, enhancing operational efficiency and rail connectivity under the Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) Phase-II project for South Central Railway.

The new chord line, integrated through Lallaguda Yard and the Sitafalmandi A and B cabins, eliminates a long-standing operational bottleneck by providing a direct connection between the Kazipet, Nizamabad and Bengaluru (via Kacheguda) routes. The project is expected to reduce congestion at Secunderabad Junction, improve train punctuality, increase line capacity and shorten travel times for both passenger and freight services.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Central Circle, inspected the section on July 2, 2026, and approved it for passenger and goods traffic following a successful speed trial, confirming the line's operational readiness.

The project involved the installation of 19 new points and crossings, removal of five existing ones, and extensive upgrades to signalling and interlocking systems to facilitate safe and efficient train operations.

“The successful completion of the Sitafalmandi–Lallaguda Chord Line Project reflects RVNL's commitment to delivering complex railway infrastructure that enhances operational efficiency and strengthens India's rail network,” said Saleem Ahmad, Chairman and Managing Director, RVNL.

"Join industry leaders at RAHSTA Expo, India's premier platform for roads, highways and traffic infrastructure. Register now to explore innovations, network with experts and shape the future of mobility."
