Targeting railway journeys, MakeMyTrip launches new features

MakeMyTrip has introduced a number of technologically advanced tools aimed at improving train travel and resolving frequent customer complaints. The organisation investigated technology-driven solutions and divided the traveller's booking process into discrete stages. One of the new features is the first-ever Seat Lock function on MakeMyTrip Trains, which enables users to guarantee a ticket by paying only 25% of the total fee and the remaining amount up to 24 hours before departure. A major issue faced in arenas is that confirmed tickets are not always available on direct trains or trains of choice for the preferred date of travel. This leaves travellers with very few options. MakeMyTrip?s Connected Travel feature solves this by seamlessly combining bus and train journeys and providing multiple combinations while considering layover time and overall travel duration. According to the report, Rajesh Magow, the co-founder and group CEO of MakeMyTrip, stated that the company is committed to enriching the train travel experience and ensuring that every journey is memorable on their platform. Magow explained that they have looked at the entire process of train travel, from planning and identifying the right train to the actual purchase experience and all the way through to the pre-arrival stages. With the introduction of their new interventions at every step of the train booking and travel journey, Magow said that MakeMyTrip remains committed to empowering travellers with choice, flexibility, and peace of mind, setting a new standard for effortless, convenient, and enjoyable train travel.

The recently introduced Route Extension Assistance function, which was created internally and is driven by algorithms, provides other possibilities in the event that a chosen route's seats are unavailable. In the event that a passenger is unable to get a seat from station A to station B, for example, the algorithm may propose an alternative route from station A to station C on the same train. This would allow the passenger to depart at station B, which is on the recommended train's path. Otherwise, it would have been quite difficult for the average user to find and unlock its availability. It is not necessary for travellers to search for train combinations and route maps individually. In the event that tickets are not available from the selected station, it also provides the Nearby Stations Recommendations, which recommend trains from stations a few kilometres away. In other words, a passenger can look at choices from the next station B if they are unable to get a train from station A to station C. Furthermore, consumers may alter their trip plans without worrying about expensive cancellation costs thanks to the Free Cancellation option, which waives 100% of the cancellation penalty.
