Gangavaram Port sets record in coal discharge

The Gangavaram Port has set a record by discharging 48,545 tonne of coking coal from the vessel, m.v Luminous Halo, in 24 hours, on October 25. It was four times the national average. The entire cargo in the vessel, 52,500 tonne of coking coal imported by the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (the Vizag steel plant), was discharged in 27 hours. The new port has, so far, handled 215 vessels and crossed the 10-million tonne cargo.
