The Kerala Ports Department will sign an agreement with the Lakshadweep Development Council (LDC) for an exclusive berth at Beypore port near Kozhikode. This is to enable the movement of passengers and cargo to and from the island. The agreement envisages construction of a 200 m berth, and the first phase, which has been originally estimated to cost Rs 20 crore, has been entrusted to INKEL, the Government-promoted infrastructure development agency. INKEL has already submitted a detailed report to the Ports Department for the development of the port.
