Centre Details Progress on 150 Maritime Projects Under Vision Plans

The Ministry has outlined progress on the 150-project maritime sprint aimed at ensuring balanced sectoral growth under Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The initiatives span shipbuilding, inland waterways, cruise tourism and digital transformation, with Sagarmala and dedicated monitoring mechanisms supporting equitable project distribution across major ports, state-run ports and inland waterways.

The Chintan Shivir framework continues to serve as a strategic and consultative platform for defining departmental priorities and reviewing progress. The Ministry noted that multiple transparency-focused mechanisms are in place to support equitable allocation of resources and ensure project readiness across maritime clusters.

To address risks linked to shipbuilding and maritime infrastructure, the Ministry has adopted a layered financial-support structure. The Maritime Investment Fund provides equity support to de-risk critical projects, while the Interest Incentivisation Fund reduces borrowing costs for shipyards. Additionally, the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme offers enhanced incentives for green and specialised vessels to offset higher capital expenses and promote advanced vessel manufacturing.

This information was shared by the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
