JNPA Awards Rs. 929.5 mn Digital Twin Project to Softtech

Mumbai, Sep 25 (PTI) Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has awarded Softtech Engineers a contract worth Rs. 929.5 mn to implement a digital twin platform at its container port. The project is intended to improve operational efficiency, asset utilisation and trade facilitation.

JNPA said the platform will create a real-time digital replica of port assets, infrastructure and operational activities. The system will bring data and predictive intelligence into a single operational environment, supporting proactive decision-making and improving the management of port services.

Core functionalities are targeted for implementation by February 2027, while the platform is scheduled to become fully operational by February 2028. The initiative is expected to strengthen safety, environmental sustainability and overall service delivery at the port.

The platform will support predictive maintenance of infrastructure, helping to minimise downtime, improve asset performance and extend the lifecycle of critical facilities. It will also provide advanced surveillance, monitoring and incident-management capabilities for safety and security operations.

JNPA said the system will monitor green cover, air quality and water quality to support its sustainability objectives. It will also enhance vessel traffic management, improve cargo and logistics flows, assist with vehicular decongestion and provide operational data for planning and maintenance. The authority said the project would support its development as a smart, future-ready port and strengthen seamless trade and logistics operations.
