Darbhanga Airport in Bihar has emerged as the top airport in the country under the UDAN regional air connectivity scheme. Since its launch in November 2020, the airport has handled 1,413,510 passengers and 9,610 flights. Passenger numbers have shown significant growth, reaching 6,16,058 in FY 2022-23. The airport's capacity is being expanded, including an additional terminal area of 1,700 sq m, increased security and boarding facilities.

Bihar Chief Secretary Amir Subhani reviewed the present status of all operational and non-operational airports in the state, given the public interest litigation (PIL) filed in the Patna High Court (HC).

Govt to acquire land for expansion of Darbhaga airport soon

Land acquisition for the civil enclave and other development and expansion works at Darbhanga airport will start soon after the next state cabinet meeting.
