Sagar Defence to Unveil Autonomous Marine Vehicle at Swavlamban

Sagar Defence Engineering Limited (SDE) has announced plans to unveil its indigenously developed Autonomous Unmanned Marine Surface Vehicle at the Indian Navy's Swavlamban 2026, scheduled for 26–27 October 2026 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

Developed under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative, the unmanned surface vehicle is designed to advance autonomous maritime operations and support emerging naval requirements. The project focuses on coordinated autonomous technologies and maritime swarming capabilities, highlighting India's growing expertise in indigenous defence engineering.

The development forms part of SDE's efforts to strengthen next-generation maritime technologies, particularly autonomous navigation, unmanned operations and coordinated marine systems. It also aligns with the Indian Navy's emphasis on encouraging domestic innovation and reducing dependence on imported defence technologies.

Nikunj Parashar, Founder and CMD, Sagar Defence Engineering Limited, said autonomous and indigenously developed technologies would play an increasingly important role in maritime defence. He acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Defence, Indian Navy and Armed Forces in promoting advanced defence capabilities through initiatives such as iDEX.

Swavlamban 2026, the Indian Navy's Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Seminar, brings together defence manufacturers, startups, MSMEs, research institutions and military stakeholders to promote indigenous technological development.

SDE's participation reflects its focus on advancing autonomous maritime systems and supporting India's defence indigenisation objectives under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
