Only 0.18% buildings in Nagpur have rainwater harvesting

In the past year, the installation of rainwater harvesting systems in buildings within the boundaries of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has increased by roughly five times. According to data from the NM property tax department, there were 1,123 buildings in 2022–23 that had rainwater harvesting systems installed. It was just 190 in 2021–2022.

Even while the data show a significant increase, the fact that just 1,123 structures in the city have installed rainwater collecting systems nearly 14 years after the need for new buildings was introduced cannot be disregarded. According to deputy municipal commissioner (revenue) Milind Meshram, this data became public after owners of similar structures sought for a 5% discount last year
