SBI Partners With Bisleri To Drive Responsible Plastic Waste Management

State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a Letter of Association with Bisleri International Private Limited (Bisleri) to implement responsible plastic waste management across SBI branches and offices. Bisleri will train SBI employees and housekeeping staff on segregation and collection of used plastic and will arrange recycling of the material. The initiative will establish collection systems within offices and encourage staff participation in responsible disposal.

Bottles for Change, a Bisleri initiative, engages institutions, housing societies, corporates and communities to raise awareness on responsible plastic waste management and promote circularity. The partnership is intended to support India’s transition towards a circular economy by fostering sustainable change across operations. SBI has set a target of Net Zero (Scope 1, 2 and 3) by 2055 and the collaboration is presented as a contribution to those commitments.

Ravi Ranjan, managing director for risk, compliance and SARG at State Bank of India, said the collaboration under Bottles for Change seeks to embed sustainable practices into workplace culture and to empower employees to make responsible choices. He noted that awareness among staff can extend into communities and that the initiative aligns with sustainable development and climate priorities. The comments positioned the partnership as a practical step towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

Dr Angelo George, chief executive officer of Bisleri, said responsible plastic waste management begins with awareness and collective action and that the partnership leverages the reach of one of India’s largest institutions alongside Bisleri’s Bottles for Change expertise. He indicated the aim is to encourage segregation, collection and recycling of used plastic by engaging employees across SBI offices so workplace habits extend into homes and communities. The collaboration is presented as a scalable corporate model to advance a circular economy for plastics and support a more resource-efficient future for India.
