GE to introduce steam turbines in India

General Electric will introduce 660 and 800 MW supercritical steam turbines in India this year. With India targeting a capacity addition of 100,000 MW in the Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012-17), the demand for various power equipment including high-efficiency turbines is expected to be significant. GE's steam turbine technology is flexible and can be customised with a variety of boiler conditions. The company, a supplier of steam turbines for many decades, has a JV with Triveni steam turbines in the 30 to 100 MW range for power generation applications.
