VPT to implement PPP projects
According to the port website, the major thrust areas of development include deepening of channels, construction of berths, modernization of cargo handling equipments or systems, connectivity and other logistics.
Specifically, the port plans to implement phase-III deepening of the inner harbour entrance channel and turning circle to cater to vessels of 14 meters draft. It also plans to undertake dredging in the outer harbour to cater to 2 lakh DWT vessels.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mumbai, plans to engage a contractor for constructing a warehouse on the land leased by vizag port for storage and handling of fertilizers.
