Coimbatore civic body to restore 170 km of roads

The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation is to carry out restoration work on 169.1 km of roads across 60 wards in old corporation limits that were dug up as part of laying underground drainage pipelines under the JNNURM project since 2010. In Coimbatore, it has been over a year since residents of Sidhapudhur, Ukkadam, Saremedu and many other areas in the city have experienced the comfort of walking or travelling on a smooth road surface. The Corporation has been allotted Rs 171.7 cr for road restoration work under various schemes out of which maintenance work to the tune of Rs71cr has been carried out so far in old corporation limits.
