GVMC to prepare a holistic CSP

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will prepare a city sanitation plan (CSP) by integrating all aspects in an effective way.

The civic body would prepare the plan under the Capacity Building for Urban Development (CBUD) programme, which is financially supported by the World Bank. Visakhapatnam is one of the 18 cities that the bank chose for the programme.

In all the 18 cities, the union urban ministry is trying to appoint consultants for these urban local bodies.

GVMC would get financial assistance from the World Bank for taking up Clean Visakha project. The civic body is taking steps to get things ready in the stipulated time for implementing the project. The employees of the civic body are asked to be pro-active in making the city clean. The works would be reviewed every Saturday.

Officials of the civic body would select sites for compost yards, biogas plants, dry waste storage and also pushcarts for collecting wet and dry waste from the houses.

Officials of the civic body would also prepare a plan to transport waste to the dumping yard at Kapuluppada.
