Visakhapatnam commences road expansion projects

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has embarked upon an extensive road expansion project across 27 major roads and routes within the city. Civic body officials said this would address the burgeoning traffic and enhance connectivity. The initiative is a significant step towards modernisation and infrastructural development in Visakhapatnam.

Taking up these works has become a necessity due to escalating traffic. To deal with the problem to an extent, GVMC has successfully completed the construction of a new bituminous (BT) road from NH-16 to Rajupalem in Anakapalli zone.

An official said environmental conservation is central to the road expansion initiative. Corporation will plant 500 shade-bearing trees along the roadside. Such an initiative will foster a sustainable and greener urban landscape, he added.
