CLP plans to treble Haryana plant capacity
Hong Kong-based power major, China Light & Power (CLP), plans to treble the capacity of its 1,320 MW coal-fired plant in Haryana. The plant’s first unit of 660 MW is scheduled to be commissioned by December 2011 and the second by April 2012. It can add another 2,600 MW in phases at the plant but it depends on fuel availability, Some 85 per cent of the power generated from phase I is contracted for supply to the Haryana distribution companies and the rest to Tata Power outside the state. CLP India currently operates a 655 MW gas-based project in Gujarat. The unlisted company has the land and environmental clearances to in-crease the capacity by another 1,050 MW.
