The Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to invest nearly Rs 20 crore over the next 12 months for various expansion projects at Pune's Lohegaon airport. The project includes a swanky administrative complex, construction of new hangars for non-scheduled small aircrafts owned by private companies operating from the city, and setting up a canopy on the city side of the airport terminal building. The airport handles nearly 7,000 passengers every day for the 40 odd flights that operate from Pune. Moreover, as planned, the new administrative building will also have a VIP lounge with independent access to the airport terminal buildings.
