The demand for cement in Andhra Pradesh has dropped by around 50 per cent in the past two months. This is reported to be a result of the agitations against the bifurcation of the Telangana region from the state in the 13 districts of the Seemandhra region. Companies that exclusively cater to markets in Srikakulum, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam are the worst hit along with firms that have plants located in the Jaggayyapeta region of Krishna-Guntur districts.
