BGR to build plants with Hitachi

BGR Energy Systems, the Chennai-based power EPC company, plans to set up supercritical boiler and turbine manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu. The company is building the plants through a JV with Japanese major Hitachi. BGR holds 74 per cent and Hitachi the rest in BGR Turbines Company. The facilities will be situated 70 km from Chennai and will have an annual capacity of 4,000 MW. The boiler plant will be commissioned in two years and the turbine unit partially completed. Land acquisition is currently on, and construction work will begin in two months.
