GE JV to set up 500 MW wind power unit

GE (General Electric) Energy Financial Services and Greenko Group PLC have decided to develop 500 MW of wind power in India at an investment of Rs 563 crore. The venture, Greenko Wind Project, will be a subsidiary of Greenko, which will invest $65 mn. GE will pump in the remaining $50 mn. This will be part of the former's targeted installed capacity of 1.6 GW of wind, small hydro and biomass projects by 2017.
