Six nuclear power reactors have been installed at Rawatbhata in Rajasthan with a total capacity of 1,180 MW. Proposals for the Twelfth Five-Year Plan envisage work to be started on 19 new nuclear power reactors with a total capacity of 17,400 MW. Presently, 1,080 MW capacity is in operation, as Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) Unit-1 (100 MW) is under extended shutdown for techno-economic assessment for continued operation.
