The states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana continue to reel under power deficit on account of the generation from the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) and Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (VTPS) remaining low on account of coal shortage and technical snags. One unit of the VTPS, however, was revived, but the deficit is
still about 1,000 MW in the region. The total power generation by APGenco was
49 mn units and that from TGenco was 36 mn units. The total energy deficit in both the states has crossed 4 mn units.
