Tata Power Solar installs world's largest rooftop in cricket stadium

Tata Power Solar has commissioned a 820.8-kWp project at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Mumbai. The project was executed to provide a solar rooftop solution for the stadium and completed in 100 days, and inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The installation will help generate over 1.12 million electricity per year, which will lead to 25 per cent of savings in power consumption. At present, on an average (apart from stadium floodlights, which run on DG), the stadium consumes 400,000 kWh per month; with the solar installation, on an average basis, consumption from the grid would fall to about 300,000 kWh per month. CCI will also be able to curb the emission of over 840 tonne of carbon dioxide annually. Speaking on the occasion, Premal Udani, President, CCI, and Rakesh Kapoor, Vice Chairman of Infrastructure and Green Technology Committee, CCI, said, 'We continuously look at projects that promote renewable energy and are glad to partner with Tata Power Solar to execute this landmark project. They have delivered on the promise of the Tata brand. We have set an example to use rooftop space in stadiums to help protect the environment.'
