Delhi Discoms to Offer Temporary Power Connections Within 24 Hours

Power distribution companies in Delhi have launched a Tatkal service to provide temporary electricity connections within 24 hours during the festival season. The service is intended for organisers of Durga Puja celebrations, Ramlilas, Diwali melas, weddings and other events across the national capital.

BSES Rajdhani Power (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power (BYPL) have made arrangements to support the city’s festive activities. According to a BSES spokesperson, applicants can submit requests through the companies’ websites, mobile applications and customer-care services, and can also make payments online.

The service will provide same-day connections where applicants complete the prescribed formalities and the proposed supply is technically feasible. Applications may be submitted through BSES websites, mobile apps, WhatsApp services, customer-care centres and Digi Seva Kendra call centres, giving organisers several options to apply for temporary power.

Applicants can also use the Delhi government’s single-window system at the district magistrate’s office. The system is intended to simplify applications for event organisers who require electricity for a limited period during the festival season.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has separately made arrangements to provide Tatkal temporary connections to organisers of Ramlilas, Durga Puja events and other festivals within 24 hours. A company spokesperson said organisers could visit the nearest TPDDL customer-care centre or apply through the company’s websites, where they can also complete the payment process online.

The temporary connections are designed to help organisers secure electricity for public celebrations and private events without the longer processing timelines that can apply to regular connections. The availability of the service remains subject to the completion of formalities and the technical feasibility of supplying power at the requested location.
