ELITe Gujarat Plant to Drive Circular Polyester for Global Brands

Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (ELITe), a 50:50 joint venture between Ester Industries Limited and Canada’s Loop Industries, announced that its upcoming Infinite Loop™ manufacturing facility in Gujarat will supply products under agreements to Italy’s Taro Plast S.p.A. Additionally, Loop Industries and South Korea’s Hyosung TNC have entered a strategic alliance to accelerate the shift of global brands to circular polyester, supporting ELITe’s Infinite Loop™ project in India and expanding its international customer base.

The Gujarat facility will transform polyester textile waste using Loop’s patented depolymerisation technology and Ester’s polymerisation expertise into Loop’s high-purity Twist™ polyester. Hyosung TNC will convert this material into high-performance yarns under its Regen™ portfolio, trusted by leading apparel and textile brands worldwide. Scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2027, the plant will position India as a key hub for delivering high-performance, chemically recycled polyester solutions to global markets.

Supplying 100 per cent Recycled DMT to Taro Plast
Loop Industries has signed an offtake agreement with Taro Plast S.p.A., a global leader in thermoplastic compounds. ELITe will supply Loop™ Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT) from its Gujarat facility for automotive and specialty polymer applications. Taro Plast confirmed that the 100 per cent recycled DMT meets the highest standards of purity and performance, aligning with its sustainability commitments.

Strategic Alliance with Hyosung TNC
The partnership with Hyosung TNC combines Loop’s Infinite Loop™ depolymerisation technology with Hyosung’s expertise in advanced textile materials, helping brands transition from fossil- and bottle-based polyester to next-generation circular materials. Loop’s technology converts low-value textile waste into Twist™ polyester resin, which is fully traceable, 100 per cent recycled, and delivers virgin-quality performance with a reduced environmental footprint. Hyosung TNC then transforms this into high-performance yarns under its Regen™ portfolio. The collaboration represents a complete circular solution, meeting the technical and sustainability needs of global brands.

Commenting on the Development
Arvind Singhania, Chairman of Ester Industries, said: “These partnerships mark a defining moment for ELITe. Our land acquisition of approximately 90 acres in Gujarat, combined with these agreements, validates our vision to create a world-class hub for circular polyester in India. The offtake with Taro Plast positions Loop™ DMT as a breakthrough feedstock for specialty polymer applications, while the alliance with Hyosung TNC extends the reach of our recycled polyester into global apparel and textile markets. These commitments reflect strong international confidence in our project and highlight India’s growing role in sustainable materials.”

He added: “ELITe’s Gujarat project will advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for circular fashion and the mission LiFE. By upcycling textile waste, the initiative will reduce landfill accumulation, conserve resources, generate new livelihood opportunities, and drive innovation in the textile ecosystem. This project demonstrates how industry can align with national priorities to create a sustainable and globally competitive future.”

Project Details
The Infinite Loop™ facility is designed to produce 70,000 tonnes of rDMT, 23,000 tonnes of rMEG, and 70,000 tonnes of rPET resin annually, with a planned investment of around Rs 1.6 billion. There is provision to expand rPET resin production by an additional 100,000 tonnes annually at the same location. These agreements signal early commitments from global brand owners and underscore India’s growing significance in sustainable materials for international markets.
